Troop 883 was founded in 1992.
We are recognized as a Gold Journey to Excellence Troop by Scouts BSA.
St. Joseph’s Catholic Church is our chartering organization.
We believe in balancing the learning and teaching of skills, leadership, advancement, outings, merit badges, high adventure, and fun for a more complete and well-rounded Scouting experience, rather that limiting our focus to one area. Troop 883 is not a merit badge factory, high adventure factory, or Eagle Scout factory.
We have weekly meetings, monthly outings, summer camp, high adventures, and Scout adventures such as orienteering competitions, camporees, and the National Jamboree. We participate in our communities and give back through Scouting for Food, Adopt a Highway cleanup, church events, and much more.
Our troop is boy-led. Senior Scouts take charge, even if it is chaotic, loud, and messy. Scouts learn by leading, participating in patrols and practicing the patrol method.
