A Scout in Troop 883 has fun. If he is having fun, then he is participating.
If he participates, he attends meetings, service projects, and camp outs.
If he is attends events, he bonds with fellow Scouts, does ‘boy’ things,
completes tasks assigned to him, leads others, learns new skills,
and becomes introduced to new experiences and activities.
If he is doing those things, he is advancing.
If he is advancing, he receives recognition in front of the Troop and his parents,
he shows he is learning, retaining and teaching skills, and giving back to the community.
He might have 100 nights camping – he might have just 30.
He might be 1st Class or an Eagle Scout when he ages out.
When he ages out, we wish him a Happy 18th Birthday,
And we invite him back to contribute as an adult leader.
His achievements are the result of having fun.
Fun is the yardstick we measure by, and fun makes the other things fall into place.
Troop 883 is not a merit badge factory, high adventure factory, or Eagle Scout factory.
We aim to develop skills, create relationships, foster character, and have FUN.
